The parents of Madeleine McCann have met with ITV to discuss appearing in a documentary about missing children.
Representatives of Kate and Gerry McCann have met with the broadcaster about a documentary that would be shot over a long period of time, their spokesman confirmed.
It is thought that, while the documentary would feature four-year-old Madeleine's disappearance from Portuguese resort Praia da Luz last year, it would focus on the wider subject of how countries respond to children going missing.
Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns spokesman, said: "We have talked with one or two companies and have a number of proposals and we are moving forward with those proposals.
"It is more than likely it would be with ITV at this stage, but I am not at liberty to go into details."
He said that the family wanted to highlight different initiatives that could help in the search for missing children, such as America's Project Amber, which sees alerts posted on electronic billboards as soon as a child is reported missing.
"We are looking at a long form documentary surrounding some of the wider issues Kate and Gerry want to highlight like the creation of an Amber alert system in Europe.
"There is nothing like it in Europe. Each country has its own systems but they don't talk to each other."
Mr Mitchell added that the McCanns were not interested in appearing in a documentary detailing how they were coping with the disappearance of their daughter.
He said: "They don't want to do anything about 'woe is us a year on'. That is what the tabloids would like us to do, but we are not following their agenda, we are following our own agenda."
The McCanns had been in discussion with Channel 4 and independent production company Darlow Smithson about making a documentary about Madeleine, but that is not now going ahead.
In November they appeared in a BBC Panorama special, which was watched by 5.3 million people.

The McCanns never 'fled' they did not do what they are criticised for, they cannot and will not ever do the 'right, honest, correct,admirable' thing no matter what they do. They are in a no win no win situation and always have been to my view, at and on the 100day debacle. That changed everything. The body language, the press, the interviews....all went pear shaped from that day. All of it.
However, I do not pull legs off spiders, nor eat worms I leave that to other blogs. As for being a doctor. onnly if struck off, if that. Never ever ever in a million years a real one. One cracked up in a mental institution yes, but otherwise no. But you know, even in the institution his oath still stands. Even if he can't.

As usual we have an ignorant arrogant man who is struggling to come to terms with people knowing he does not live in SA and that he is not a doctor, so as attack is his only form of defence, this is what he does.
He talks of the intellect of others, yet read this it has been taken from Supertroll's site and it is about a character notdoc made up in panic when he realised he had been outed.
I think before he casts aspersions of the intellect of others perhaps he should question his own and his maturity.......He must be so arrogant that he actually does believe he is superior to others, what a totally and thoroughly unpleasant and totally deluded man this Docmac/notdoc actually is!

re notdoc, you are correct, he just cannot see how utterly ridiculous he makes himself look with his bizarre theories and his total inability to be able to separate fact from fiction.
He feeds off of people like Viv/Felicity and 2345, they are like oxygen to him, he shamelessly uses people.
he becomes very irate exceedingly quickly if he is questioned in any way, where as if anyone questioned what we id or do for a living, we would probably just say 'whatever believe it or don't believe it who cares' but he goes in for this total overreaction and astonishing pity fest, oh woe is me, I do this job I do to care for people and look at the abuse I get etc this tells me he is after attention and constant pats on the back and recognition. Probably why he chose the medical profession for an imaginary career!

I think I had a heart to heart with little Canuckgal on HYS - I told her either she was very naive or very young to make such a silly comment. Now, I personally think she's just thick as molasses.
I can't come remember quite what she said - I think she was trying to convince everyone that we had the best government and the best legal system.
I wrote back that before she started mouthing off she should go and look up the cases of Kristen Deyell (a young 15 year old girl murdered in Mexico) - I worked with her dad - he was absolutely devastated. Unfortunately, it was the same scenario as Natalee Halloway - the killer(s) were from rich, powerful families - no one has been charged. And the Canadian government has done NOTHING to help.
I also mentioned the Paul Bernardo case (he and his wife (Karla) murdered two young beautiful 16 and 17 year old girls. That wasn't the worst they did - Paul and Karla raped and murdered Karla's baby sister (I think she was 14 or maybe 15).
Paul received a life sentence and Karla after two or three years in jail was released - now I think she's moved to Jamaica (I don't know and I don't care) and she has a baby (girl, I think). I told Canuckgal, I felt that justice had not been served for the victims or their families.
Last nite, on the news there was a case of a Canadian woman who has been in jail for two years (she was the receptionist for a Canadian man who was laundering money) - no charges have been laid against her and the man she was working for told the authorities that she was completely in the dark about the company's illegal activities. The woman is on suicide watch.
And our government's answer, "Oh, we don't get involved in other countries'legal system." I, for one as a Canadian taxpayer, would be willing to cut off aid to Mexico until they negotiate some deal for these cases.
And how could I forget the story of Charles Ng? Charles and his buddy Leonard kidnapped and murdered families (it unfortunately included two babies). They made videos of their abuse of the women (the women were slaves to these animals) - it was sick. Leonard committe suicide, Charles disappered - was arrested in one of Canada's Bay store for shoplifting (I think he also fired a gun at the security people).
He was sentenced to three years (I think) in a Canadian jail. In the meantime, the US is trying to extradite him for the murders he committed in the US. Canadian didn't want to send him back unless the US could guarantee that he would not receive a death sentence. Finally, the US got fed up with our attitude and told us, "Fine keep him, let him go free amongst your people." Needless to say, he was on a plane soon after and he sits on death row.
I think Diane is right - the best we can do is ignore the other blogs. We should not be surprised at anything they say with their comments - after all, look at how they've attacked the McCanns.

We too have our fair share of tales where justice is definitely not been served.
I think we all do. We keep getting corruption charges against various states here. But in all honesty our police are pretty damn good. But when the get it wrong (as in Victoria at the moment, somebody high up gave evidence out to the suspect, tsk tsk tsk) it isnt hidden, it is brought out in the open and we try to make sure it doesnt happen again.
I only wish we could do the same thing with the court system. I personally am getting sick of the judges not giving stiff enough penalties for crimes, then the crims get out and do it again. Even rape, and then it happens to someone else. Or worse,they murder the next time. Especially paedophiles (and yes, your spelling doesnt have the a in it, I saw it on the tv), they get such light sentences and then comeout and hurt some other poor children.
And stupid things like blaming the victim for the rape or the abuse. That type of thing still goes on. A few years ago, a judge here gave a light sentence to the rapist of a prostitute because it wouldnt have been do damaging to her, as to another woman. That judge was chucked out. Stupid and more stupid. The judges seem to live outside of society and dont reflect societies values. I think it is the same in many countries.
we had one in an aboriginal settlement where a 10 yo girl had sex (maybe consentual, maybe not) with a number of men and the men didnt even get custodial sentences. Because she probably consented. Oh dear, she was 10, she isnt able to consent but the prosecutor did a deal and the judge went along with it. Big trouble came over that one.
I believe that high sentences do not work as a deterrent and sometimes will result in deaths in an effort to protect the identity of the criminal but realistically when people commit the most heinous crimes, they should go to prison and stay there. Because if we let them out and they do it again, then we are not protecting our citizens. And I am talking about bad crimes here, like rape and child abuse and premeditated murder.

Actually, I only found out about your site yesterday thanks to a post on the 3A's site (yes, can you believe it? I go there from time to time - God am I evil or what??) so had a good look around while I was here. Just my opinion, but wasn't too impressed by what I was reading. And I don't just say that because your site is "pro" (you might already know how much I hate the "pro" and "anti" terms, so I use them very lightly). It just feels all very juvenile here with not a whole lot of direction and focus put into your cause. I may not (and don't) always agree with many of the "anti's" views, but at least they're passionate about their convictions, and for the most part they manage to stay on course. In here, most of you are just plain nasty and spiteful to others for no good reason, all in the name of "Justice". Again, just my opinion, so slay me if you want to. I will say however that out of all of you, DianeH is about the only one with any wits about her, although you've probably already read mine and Alsabella's comments about her (Hi Diane! You should "come over" some time - you'd be a great addition to the debate)!
As for calling you guys cowards I would like to say two things about that:
1. I don't recall ever saying on Alsabella's site that you had posted anonymously. But there is one I know of for sure who has - please see no. 2 below...
2. I was really just referring to Calcite, who so obviously revealed herself as an anonymous poster on Alsabella's site the other day. (Go back and take a look if you haven't seen it yet - it's really quite funny - and oh-so hypocritical)! So I apologize for not being more specific. I'll make sure I am next time.

I agree with you on the most part - I am really sitting on the fence of capital punishment - I think for most hard criminals then jail for life is GREAT.
A little part of me when I think of the horrendous criminals - Marc Dutroux, Charles Ng - the ones that only can be described as without a heart or a soul, they should be executed or maybe we should them send to the other blog all day, every day 24/7 - that should drive them crazy. I don't know if it would drive the criminals crazy or the blog members crazy.

I never go to Alsabella's site to debate as no debating goes on there. Only back slapping and self congratulations. And it has achieved nothing and will not ever provide any justice for Madeleine. Quite simply they are looking in the wrong place.
I have only posted on there twice and the 'evidence' which I posted which was from a newspaper article was completely belittled by people who did not have the decency to even do any research. Couldnt have as answered with abuse in less than 1 minute.
Alsa completely lost my respect when she wrote that letter to Mrs Healy. It was the most disgusting thing I have seen in a long long while and if justice for Madeleine is the goal, then I have no idea how that could even be on the same playing field.
Im afraid, I just dont see that you can compare the things written on here about other bloggers (and that same snide comments are made on the other blogs about us) with the vile abusive things written about the McCanns. We bloggers are anonymous and who cares what is written about us. But the McCanns are real people who have lost a daughter and are constantly being abused by people who have no proof of anything other than what passes for a theory in their head. Having suspicions is one thing but outright accusations are completely different.
