The episode of Shameless at the centre of the police inquiry was screened a month before Shannon went missing.
Channel 4's black comedy featured the fake kidnap of a schoolboy and a £500,000 ransom demand.
Detectives have obtained a copy of the show, which drew an audience of 2.5million, and may question Karen Matthews about it.
In an episode of Shameless Liam is abducted in a false kidnap. Police are studying the show to see if there any significant similarities between the plot and the Shannon Matthews case.
In the show, broadcast on 22 January, the local TV news reports that Frank Gallagher - the dysfunctional family head played by actor David Threlfall - has won £500,000 on the lottery.
But it is simply a ruse so he can enjoy the fame and get free drinks in the local pub. His teenage daughter Debbie knows her father has never bought a lottery ticket in his life.
To get to the truth she stages the fake kidnap of her younger brother Liam, who willingly goes along with the idea.
A ransom demand is made for £500,000 to match the figure Frank is said to have won.
All along Liam was hidden with a friend of his sister a few doors away.

It is a wonder that Rothaymere can type at all with that stick up its butt.
I too think the timing of this is iffy. It has all been contrived. These egotistical PJ have no concept of the pain and suffering that they are putting these people through and they have failed this innocent little girl, whom they know fully well was abducted from her bed in Praia da Luz, Portugal.
The PJ are over here and yet they haven't even managed to get permission to question the parents, they know this is going to look bad so they invent this, it is pathetic.
It appears to me that the PJ are trying to give the McCann's torture by media. It still hasn't sunk into the PJs thick skulls that the McCann's are innocent and this is why they have not confessed. This is ridiculous, it is a shambles and a chaotic farce.
Why now? The British police advised the PJ to make this reconstruction immediately - they ignored them.
The parents requested a Crime stoppers reconstruction - they were ignored.
The other reason why I think the PJ have all of a sudden said this is because it is again all about money and their stinking tourist industry.
They want to point the finger at the McCann's again, trying to make them look bad in the hope that people will think it is OK for them to take their family on holiday to the Algarve after all.
You must be joking PJ, you are having a laugh.
I would not risk my family there, no way Jose'.
The Algarve is not a safe destination for familiars in my opinion, there could be a paedophile ring operating there and if there is, then no one's child is safe.
I would not trust a place where two little children have disappeared from without a trace within 7 miles of each other and in both cases the PJ have tried to pin it on the parents.
Not to mention that these children have gone missing and the Portuguese law makers have allowed books to be written about them and allowed odious creeps one an ex PJ detective to make money out of these innocent children.

So sickmaking of Roth,China.I would feel sorrier for some of those posters, if they were not so destructive towards other people's lives and so damaging to their children.
I know that this might be a daft notion, but I would like to think that when the Mccann twins grow up and research what happened, as they surely will, they might find this little corner of the web and see that there were posters, who were supportive of their parents.
I am sure they will be cleared,but what psychological damage there is,potentially for the twins.
I have no idea even, if records are kept so long.
I hope that TWS is long closed down, by then and the blogboss sued.

For people who profess to want justice for Madeleine and seek to protect children from abuse and neglect, the anti's do a damn good job of making sure that the twins are going to suffer in the future. Luckily they are too young now to understand (probably dont even realise that they have a sister that used to live with them and that almost makes me cry) but there will be lasting effects from all of this, unless Madeleine is found (I wish so much for this) and the abductor(s) caught.
The twins are younger than my daughter and older than my son and I can say that my children look at photos of their neice (she will be 1 in May), and my girl says her name, she doesnt really remember her. It is a bit like learning to count or the alphabet. They know what you want them to say but it has no meaning. So althought the twins will recognise her photo, they most likely dont actually remember being with Madeleine. And that is tragic.
According to Claudia some tv station has bought the rights of the book 'Star of Madeleine' to make it into a TV series. She is actually crowing about it. Does she not realise how bd this makes Portugal look? What I cannot really stomach is the so called non-Portuguese posters actually letting her get away with it. How sick is that? Do they not realise that the majority of the time she is just tolerating these posters. She certainly has no respect for them.

Once again, this shows Portugal up to be archaic in its laws. Even if we forget about the older McCanns for a minute, how can making a tv series, without any idea of what happened, possible help Madeleine. It doesnt matter that Christotwit thinks she is dead, the fact is there is no evidence and to make a tv series surely would be perverting the course of justice. As surely anyone that watches it will be influenced to think that she is dead. As we know from our recent experiences, there are many people who cannot tell fact from fantasy.

As was determined by DX's capitulation on the libel case. Just because something has already been published doesnt take away the liability of any subsequent publishers in regards to libel. And this is especially true when the statements in question have already been found to be libel.
Vile is walking on very slippery slope and I can only see one way for her to go.
And incidentally, I think that Alsa may have decided that the only way off the slippery slope was to close down her blog.

I could write that womans posts after the neverending diatribe I have read (from her) on the DX.
I try to bear in mind, that she lost her husband due to a cardiac problem and that she cannot come to terms with the fact that the majority of doctors are decent human beings, who entered their profession, to help others.
In between the lines, I have wondered whether her husband ran off with a nurse, but I am not sure.
She has her own problems, that is for sure.

Yes, I think that Alsa had more sense and she was very anxious about the legal implications, as she went to Vile's blog for clarification.
Either that or the PJ did not need their secretary to try to guage or influence public opinion,or beat the drum for Portugal,whatever she was doing.
I think that the tV serialisation of the charlatan,Cristovos's c...p book, puts Portugal in a bad light.

..and therein lies the porblem.
We do not feel that the pj have done 'their best'. They underestimated the moral fibre of this couple, and relied on underhand ways to conclude it. They had no regard for Madeleine and believed it would have a quick resolution without putting in the work.
Shame on them. Shame on Portugal too!

I am so glad that the McCs have the best legal team to advise.
The daily mail had a thread, earlier and there were many supporters and the same few antis.
I think that if the PJ try to be too clever and straight jacket them, there will have to be politicial interference, as these are British citizens and child and there will be one hell of an outcry, if the PJ overplay their hand and try to stitch them up.
People can go to many tourist destinations today and do not need Portugal,exclusively.

I think for the reconstruction of May 3, they should have Clawdia to play Murat's girlfriend - notdoc could play Murat. Vile could play the first wife.
Also read that Star of Madeleine is being made into a movie - hope the proceeds will be going to a foundation for missing children or perhaps for PJ's who damn well deserve to be fired for their poor job performance.
And maybe Vile, you can do a movie on your kids' escapades.
