Kate and Gerry McCann are considering returning to Portugal to stage a reconstruction of the events surrounding the disappearance of their daughter, it has emerged.
As Leicestershire police, observed by Portuguese detectives, began reinterviewing the seven friends who were dining with the McCanns on the night Madeleine vanished, the couple's spokesman confirmed yesterday that they have been in discussions about returning to the Algarve to Praia da Luz to participate in a re-enactment.
Madeleine, then aged three, disappeared on the evening of May 3 last year, while her parents had dinner at a nearby restaurant with the group of friends.
It is understood the McCanns' lawyers have been negotiating for some time with Portugal's Policia Judiciária about returning, but have said that the McCanns would not agree to do so while they remain arguidos, or official suspects, in the case.
Clarence Mitchell, the couple's spokesman, said that thanks to Portugal's secrecy laws he could not discuss the details, but added: "Kate and Gerry would very much welcome a Crimewatch-style reconstruction which is properly broadcast for millions of people to see."
However, it was "very unlikely" that they would agree to return to Portugal while they were still under investigation, he said.
Jane Tanner, who told police she saw a man carrying a child away from the McCanns' holiday apartment, is understood to have been interviewed yesterday at Leicestershire police headquarters in Enderby, observed by officers from the Policia Judiciária who are led by Paulo Rebelo, one of Portugal's most senior detectives.
The purpose of the interviews, Mitchell said, was to clear up any apparent inconsistencies in their accounts.

On you comment about Australia. No offence taken. There are such vast differences between how both countries came into being, that it is a wonder that we didnt go to war in past times.
And from one who is the descendent of a convict (who stole 32 chickens) that was transported, I wish you well. As for the rest of the ancestors, it is suspected that there was a convict back through another branch but my grandfather was a pom, from Luton.

Your wonderful (choked and sputtered on that one)PJ's can't seem to get off their butts to do a proper search and rescue to find missing children never mind getting off their butts to find posters who say the PJ's have proven they are incompetent, corrupt and just plain stupid.
Bring it on, Clawdia, - we can write books in English, French, Welsh. My book will be title "The Devils of Portugal".
Maybe in Portugal, they have nothing to worry about but the criticism and well deserved I might add towards the PJ's - but other civilized countries have more to worry about then Portugal and their lack of integrity.

As if the PJ would care what we wrote. They should however be more concerned with the Sky news reporting that said in their report of the McCanns and a proposed reconstruction, that the PJ have been heavily criticised for their handling of the case.
My guess is that Martin wasnt talking about the criticism on this blog. Im fairly sure he doenst read it. So that must mean that criticism is coming from other places, probably more official places and from people much more qualified than us to voice that criticism.
Clawdia, send your emails to the PJ, its your time you are wasting. Send too many and PJ will set your email address to blocked, to stop you wasting police time.

sorry I have probably missed you again. Damn work is interfering this morning. Under the hammer.
The kids are doing well. Little girl has an exploratory surgery tomorrow and we have to travel to our nearest capital city, so am off at 5 am in the morning. Little boy cant come with us because there is no where to leave him while we are at the hospital. So he is staying at Nana's for the weekend. We have to stay near the hospital for 2 days after the operation.
I am nervous about the operation, last time she had breathing difficulties, and well, you can guess how I feel. And I have never been apart from the little boy, not even for a single night. So I am worried about that as well. But he loves his Nana and Grandad, and thinks that their house is his house as well. So I am hoping that he will sleep there alright and not even notice I (and his dad and big sister) arent even there.
So busy at work, got lots to do after work to get packed and away early in the morning.
I dont have emails come from this blog. Can you send me a sample of Blanker (or should that read Wanker) comments? I could do with a laugh.

Diane - we will be supporting you emotionally as your little girl goes through the surgery.
It's always tough when a child needs surgery. But at least now the doctors know that your daughter experiences breathing problems when under the anestetic so they will probably be very careful and well prepared for any possible problems.
Your little boy will probably miss you, dad and his sister but he will also enjoy being the 'only child' at grandma's and grandpa's.
Glad Sky News is complaining about the PJ's investigation methods.

Thanks for that which I had read.
Sadly, this is what losing a child does to genuine parents, they never get over it and move on as Gerry suggested "we want to go back to normal". This was such a telling remark, when you have lost a precious child how could life ever be normal again.
I see Calcite had to go back and brag what a little twit she is and Rosie commented how she had earlier been on this site causing trouble. I can understand you feeling repulsed by such people.
