MADELEINE McCann’s grandfather today makes a heartfelt plea for the police, public and media to refocus their attentions on “the most important story” ... the search for the missing four-year-old.
Brian Healy, 68, from Allerton, the father of Kate McCann, believes his beloved grandchild, who has not been seen for 253 days, is in danger of being overlooked amid the daily torrent of spurious stories, speculation and wild rumours.
He also said there is so much he is looking forward to doing with his first grandchild, like running through the water fountains in Liverpool’s Williamson Square. And he pays tribute to the warmhearted people of Liverpool and thanks them for their constant support and good wishes.
Brian says: “There has been so much that has been said and written, much of it untrue and hurtful, but so often it seems to me as if the only really important person in all this has been forgotten – and that’s Madeleine.
“Finding Madeleine should be at the forefront of everyone’s minds – everything else takes the attention away from this and wastes so much time.”
Kate and Gerry McCann have been the subject of much negative publicity since they were named as suspects by the Portuguese police (Polícia Judiciária) last September. Many unfounded stories have been picked up by the British press from Portuguese papers, but Brian says he was heartened to read an opinion piece which appeared in the leading Lisbon newspaper Diaro de Noticias. It was written by journalist João Miguel Tavares and published on December 11.
The columnist talked of the need for the media in Portugal to “make a serious analysis of its role in the tragedy and activate mechanisms to stop it from behaving again as a ping-pong table throwing too many lies and too little information”.
He also wrote that it was now “as likely that the case will be solved as penguins starting to fly” and referred to the “it will go away” attitude that people in Portugal have, adding: “I suppose this is now also the strategy of the detectives leading this case – let’s keep quiet and soon nobody will remember. And taking into account the way Maddie is being taken away from the papers the tactic seems good. In the PJ (Polícia Judiciária) all they dream about now is the silence of the archives.”
Brian Healy, who believes silence and inactivity are Madeleine’s greatest enemies, says: “There have been some good, positive and helpful stories written about the search for Madeleine, but it seems to be the more sensational and negative stories which get the main headlines. And there have been so many lies written. People say not to read the papers, but you can’t avoid seeing them.
“A lot of people will end up having to hang their heads in shame. I have got so mad reading some of the lies about Kate that I’ve rung up the newspapers concerned, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.
“Some people don’t seem to want to know about the real Kate. She is such a warm and caring person, as well as being intelligent. But you can’t win because people say ‘He would say that, he’s her father.’ But I would love them to be able to spend just one hour in Kate’s company – and I would have loved them to have been able to spend just one hour with Kate, Gerry, Madeleine and the twins.
“For me, there is one photograph which sums up Kate’s family - it’s the black and white photograph which we have on our wall of the five of them. It’s just such a beautiful photograph and it tells its own story.”
Brian adds: “As Madeleine’s grandfather, there are so many things I long to do – for example, I’d love to be able to run through the water fountains with her in Williamson Square.”
Desperate for a breakthrough in the search for Madeleine, but frustrated at the lack of any positive news from Portugal, Brian says: “I’ve never felt so helpless in my life.”
Despite the negativity from various quarters, Brian, and Kate’s mum, Susan, have been bowled over by the response from strangers on the streets of their and Kate’s home city.
Brian says: “We want to thank everyone in Liverpool for their fantastic support and their good wishes – they have been great. We have had so many hugs from people who approach us when we’re out shopping.
“Sue was in town on Saturday and she was getting hugged all the time. These people care about Madeleine and they know what the real story is – that Madeleine has been taken and needs to be found and brought back to her family as quickly as possible.”

Ref cadaver dogs - sounds like the usual garbage by NoHope.
I remember reading that the dog walked right past the car and was dragged back by the dog handler. If that's not prompting the poor animal, what is? As for the dog barking in the appartment, I wonder what sort of prompting brought that about? Perhaps the pj stood on it's tail - they were that desparate. Or maybe one of them walked in with a sardine sandwich in his pocket (I heard the dogs were quite partial to a fish dish)
Anyway, any evidence the pj may or may not have from these dogs, will be open to cross examination/ridicule and laughed out of court.
Anyway, the dogs will probably take the fifth amendment and refused to testify.
In any event, how would they cross examine the dogs?

The parents of Madeleine McCann, the 4-year-old British girl who went missing in Portugal in May, were officially named suspects on Sept. 7 by Portuguese police. The change came after developments in the case, including sniffer dogs detecting the "smell of death" on Madeleine's Cuddle Cat toy and her mother's clothes. They did not, however, find a body. Can you trust a cadaver dog if there's no cadaver?
Not really—especially if a lot of time has elapsed since the body was removed from the scene. Cadaver dogs can find the remains of people who have been dead for years or even decades. But it's much harder for the dogs if the bulk of the remains are gone. In that case, they can pick up the scent from small amounts of body tissue, like a blood stain or nail clippings, or even from materials that came into contact with the tissue. But in the absence of an actual body, the smell of death will dissipate. There's speculation that Madeleine died on the night her parents reported her disappearance—which would mean that she passed away four months ago. It's not clear if a detectable scent could linger on her mother's clothes for all that time.
Researchers are trying to determine how long the scent lingers when the body is no longer present, but there are no conclusive results yet—it may be two weeks, or it may be longer. One former Scotland Yard dog handler talking about the McCann case hypothesized that the scent wouldn't last more than a month.
The dogs couldn't necessarily prove anything even if Madeleine's body had been in recent contact with her mother's clothes. Since they didn't turn up any actual remains, investigators had to rely on the "smell of death" itself, an odor that stems from the decomposition process. Without a body, they can't be certain that the animals didn't make a mistake. Cadaver dogs do mess up from time to time: The McCanns have sought out attorneys who convinced a judge in Wisconsin that certain dogs were accurate just 22 percent to 38 percent of the time.

I also read that when the dog was taken to cars the dog walked past McCann’s car and the dog was pulled back to the McCann’s car and walked round and round and round their car. Poor dog it probably did not know what the dog handler wanted it to do!

Got a good idea still comparing posts from who I think SHE is.
Do you remember a certain poster that used to get upset quite a lot when they were caught out in a lie ?, then got all the sympathy of the boss man.
Well it looks pretty much like they are one and the same.

That's right re the dogs in the car park.
The cars were lined up and the dogs walked past each car, no reaction from the dogs, yet when they got to the McCann's hire car and the dogs WALKED PAST, they were pulled back and marched around the cars until they gave a positive sign and sat.
The dog handlers new it was the McCann's car because it was covered in Find Madeleine posters!
If the posters had been taken down like they should have been, the handlers would not have know it was the McCann's hire car and so would not have pulled the dogs back to it and NO POSITIVE signs would have been given!

Isis. Actually I am not a bully. But what I don't like is anyone who is a snitch and can only talk about what other people think or are doing....not what they think or are doing.
Everytime you come on this blog you go running back to Alsabella's or Vile's to inform them anything we say on here regarding them. Mostly what we do say about them is in defence of what they say about us. Dogmad is a prime example of that as you well know.

'The disgraced former head of the Madeleine McCann police investigation will stand trial accused of falsifying evidence in a separate missing child case, a judge has ruled.
Goncalo Amaral, 48, who was sacked from the Madeleine enquiry last year, is accused of covering up for four of his officers who are accused of torture.
He was in charge of the Madeleine case when her parents, Gerry and Kate, were named as suspects last September. His boss has since said officers had acted "hastily" in making the McCanns arguidos (formal suspects).
The trial Mr Amaral faces relates to the disappearance of eight-year-old Joana Cipriano from a village seven miles from Praia da Luz in the Algarve four years ago.
Her mother, Leonor, and uncle, Joao Cipriano, were convicted of murdering her.
Both claim they were beaten and tortured into confessing during a police interrogation that took place without the knowledge of the Public Prosecutor.
Mr Amaral is said to have helped cover up the alledged torture.
Judge Ana Lucia Cruz, who sits at the court of instruction in Faro, ruled yesterday that Mr Amaral would stand trial on charges of falsifying evidence and failing to report a crime.
Four inspectors will stand trial accused of torture.
The officers claim that Mrs Cipriano tried to commit suicide by throwing herself off a staircase.
Mr Amaral was sacked from his position as chief of the Judicial Police in Portimao in October last year. He continues his job as a police officer and denies any wrongdoing.
Mr and Mrs McCann, both 39-year-old doctors from Rothley, Leics, deny being involved in their daughter's disappearance'
So, Mr Amaral is accused of falsifying evidence in a case of another missing child. I hope this is the only time he may have had the opportunity of doing same.
Four Inspectors are also going to stand trial.
So we have FIVE ARGUIDOS, all from the portuguese police, facing trial over the tragic case of the disappearance of Joana Cipriano, whose body has never been found.

This is the letter in question and it caused a lot of upset because 2345 said she delivered it personally to Mrs Healy, although whether this is another of her fantasies (like forensic evidence and Jane Hill) remains to be seen. I am afraid I read this letter and lost it, when someone told me it had been delivered to Mrs Healy, it really made me shake with anger that someone could be so cold, callous and judgemental and then at the end ask her not to blame them if they got it wrong!

Open Letter to Mrs Healy
Dear Mrs Healy,
I have read on the Sky News website that you were pleading with people to stop criticising your daughter and son-in-law.
As much as I admire your strength throughout what I am sure is a horrendously terrible ordeal for you, I cannot do as you request.
I, and I believe a great deal of those that "critisize" Kate & Gerry, do not do so for the fun of it. We do so because of the many inconsistencies that we have become aware of. We do so because we find it strange that they would be sunbathing by the pool and playing tennis with their child missing one or two days before. We do so because Kate refused to answer all the Police's questions, and then along with Gerry, immediately returned to the UK and went to meet with extradition lawyers. We do so because we have come to believe that much of the spin is fostered by some on their team. We do so because we cannot understand why with such good detectives in the UK, anyone wanting to find their missing child would hire Metodo 3, which does not specialize in child abductions and from what I have heard on national TV, does not even seem have a good reputation in Portugal.
I can understand how as a mother you defend your child. You deserve all our respect for that. However, understand that we do not know Kate. This may lead us to be unfair with her. On the other hand, it may allow us to see beyond what those close to her and Gerry wish to see in their hearts. We do not know what happened to Madeleine. We only have suspicions. But we do not want this case to fall through without this case and their involvement being thoroughly investigated.
Surely you can understand that.
I do not doubt they suffer and miss Madeleine. But I am sure that even those that harm their children suffer a bit for them, because in them at least a part must love their child. Yet, those people are nevertheless investigated, tried, and the applicable punishment is set. Because children are not their parents' property and society does have a right to question when they believe a child's welfare is at stake.
Those parents surely had no wish for the case to be investigated and it is up to the police to investigate, to the public to maintain these cases alive until justice is done.
In this situation we may be wrong, but surely you can understand that it because we worry about Madeleine that we want to make sure things are left crystal clear and not tainted by doubts.
That is all we want. Not knowing, although suspecting, of possible involvement in her disappearance, we want her parents and their friends to be thoroughly investigated until this case and their actions are absolutely clear.
Madeleine deserves justice, and since we do not trust Kate and Gerry (they have been shown to have at the very least, a very poor sense of judgment), I believe it is our job as human beings, to insure justice for her.
Do not ask us to forget your daughter and son-in-law, Mrs Healy, and treat them with kindness. Although I have no wish to torment them, to stop questioning what happened on 3 May, and what has happened since then, is to forget justice for Madeleine. And I, for one, cannot do that, I am sorry.
Kate and Gerry are grown adults, they have many people taking care of them, on a personal and professional level. They have top-notch attorneys, psychologists, PR contacts, and millionaires to help them. Madeleine, a child, has none of this. I feel a much greater need to protect her than her parents.
I wish you much strength, Mrs Healy. And if we are wrong, do not wish us ill. Know we did not wish to make your family suffer, but instead to protect the most vulnerable member of that family and make sure that justice is done for her.

It is very disturbing to read that the officer that was in charge of the Madeleine investigation, at the time that Kate and Gerry were made arguidos, is to stand accused in a Portuguese court, on charges of falsifying evidence into the disappearance of another little girl, in order to implicate the relatives of the child.
I am sure the judge must have had very good reason/evidence to make such a ruling against such a high ranking police officer.

As you imagine Alsabelia has white washed over this, she would rather cause upset to Mrs Healy by writing spiteful letters than face the cold hard truth about her beloved PJ officers.
Amazing how these antis can all throw their arms up in the air about Gonc being called Tubby and yet these serious charges of concealing evidence of torture in another case of a missing child hardly resonates with them, where is this famous justice they all keep on about there?

I think the solution is not to care what identity the poster is.
Whether the person puts an ID in or posts anonymously, it is still only a pseudonym and we all remain anonymous (apart from Mum21 ;-) LOL!)
Just concentrate on the content of the post and judge the content, then decide whether it's worth responding to or not.
Also, don't get hung up on what others think and say behind our backs; people can only hurt you if you give them the power to do so.
Just think about the friends you have in real life and on this site; be, as Rosie says, a "glass half full" kind of person and the empty half of the glass becomes irrelevant!

Certainly the shutters as shown on video footage do not appear to be worn, and look in good repair. I intend to take a look on my return to Portugal, week commencng the 2nd March. Will certainly pass on my observations.
Alsabella had said that she has in fact looked at these shutters herself and her observation was that they were old and ready to fall to pieces.
It is my belief that the abductor would have used this window or the front door to gain access (as I have stated before locks can be opened with a credit card very easily unless you double lock them)
Access to the front door in particular is in a recess and hidden from view depending on where you are. The road that these look onto is used mostly for vehicular access, it is not used heavily by pedestrians.

I cant see that these shutters would be as bad as Alsabelia makes out.
Also I feel that someone the cleaner maybe had opened the window and left the latch off and this made the entry easy. I also think that those shutters may have been jammed up in order to pass her out of the window.
There is another theory that somehow they got hold of a copy of a key and this is easy done.
either by someone that had access tot he keys and could have got one copied, or by someone that rented the apartment before and got one copied.

I'd never read that before, these poor people have contacted the Media and begged for this smear campaign to stop. A grieving Grandfather, Father pushed to this when he is not in good health himself. Its shameful the treatment of this family. I hope has he said many people will need to hang their heads in shame when the truth comes out.
Tinkerbell, yes I do know it. This road leads down from the Mccann's apartment towards one of the entrances for the Baptista supermarket. You have to pass the Ocean Club reception on way. It allows two way traffic, or it did, there is a one way sysstem now and I think you can only access it from the top road and drive down towards the supermarket.

I am not aware of any protocol of how to react to such lowlife and responded instinctively.

I was looking at the DX story on little Millie Dowler, who disappeared in 2002, and Shannon Mathews, who went missing last Tuesday.
On top of that, the discovery of the child’s remains in a former children’s home Haut de la Garenne in St Martin is the worst kind of news.
It is profoundly sad that these things happen to so many children. They don’t ask to be bought into this world, but they have the right to have a safe, secure and happy childhood.
I cannot understand why any adult should hurt a child, and it sickens me. I have seen it first hand and it makes my soul burn with rage.
After all these years, the Police have kept working on Millie’s murder and are still building a case against the prime suspect. She may yet have justice.
Despite some justified criticisms of the PJ, I firmly believe they will continue to work on Madeleine’s disappearance until they have an answer; I do not think the case will be shelved.
Those orphans from the children’s home were the most vulnerable in society. They should have been given care and love in bucketfuls, but instead they were preyed upon by cold, calculating paedophiles, abusers and murderers. How can that ever happen? How can so many evil people come together under one roof?
It makes me want to grab hold of my children and never let them go but they have grown up and I have to start doing so. I’m torn apart by the feeling. The most precious days of my life have been as a mother.
But I didn’t always put them first and the guilt haunts me. As a single, working mother, my career has got in the way and kept me from my children when they needed to be with me, and I needed to be with them. I should have been stronger, managed my finances more efficiently so I didn’t have to work so much. I made bad judgement calls.
I realise that every day and I can’t ever make that time up with them. Now my beautiful world has changed and my children don’t need me so much any more.
And I find I need them more.
So, I think that Kate and Gerry McCann will feel guilt no matter what the truth of Madeleine’s disappearance. How could you ever stop regretting if you were in their situation?

Only this evening, number 1 teenager was asking me what i would like for Mother's Day. He is buying me a gift with his first ever wage packet and he wants it to be special.
I have a collection of books by a particular author which I treasure, so I asked him to get me the latest novel in paperback. He said it wasn't special enough, so I said, OK, then, I'd really love the hardback.
