A SERVICE to mark the 365 days since Madeleine McCann’s disappearance is to be held at the church of Nossa Senhora Da Luz, in Praia da Luz, where Kate and Gerry McCann regularly prayed, on Saturday, May 3 at 6.30pm.Described as a service of hope and commemorating the year since Madeleine went missing, the theme of the service is “we want you home” and will be remembering Madeleine. Did you know that today is a bank holiday in Portugal. The 25th April 1974 was the start of the revolution against the fascists. It is called the Carnation Revolution, mainly because there was very little bloodshed and the revolutionaries carried carnations.
Today is called FREEDOM DAY.
How ironic that Portugal and colonies fought so hard for their freedom, but still have an archaic judicial secrecy law. Obviously FREEDOM of speech doesn't count for much. Wonder what the young revolutionaries from 34 years ago are thinking right now?

I know Sass, Casavallo said it was fictional....but I think it is SO VERY WRONG as Casavallo admitted that he had inside information (oh, my goodness another leak). More leaks in Portugal than the Titanic ever had and looked at what happened to the Titanic.
As hard as this one year anniversary is going to be on everyone, it will be hell for the McCanns and that breaks my heart.

I am very interested in the 2 hour long documentary due to be screened next Wednesday 30th April on ITV at 8pm, this is a long documentary I cannot remember another being this long, can anyone else?
Like Diane, I say a prayer for Madeleine every day and find myself thinking about her, i look at my own dear grandchildren and feel the pain of how bad it must be for Madeleine's parents and grandparents and wider family. It is physical pain and this is why I have to be around to help them through this, they made a mistake, we know this, they know this, must we keep throwing it in their faces and rubbing salt in this very open wound?
Time to move on and help them concentrate on finding Madeleine and bringing her home.

The McCanns were on the front page day in and day out - the articles were getting more slanderous every day.
Murat on the other hand, yes the press did a write a lot about him at the beginning but eventually he was left alone. Murat should write a book (fictional of course) about a man who was interviewed by the PJ's.

To answer Calcite's question about the priest. The priest doing the memorial service isn't the Catholic one (who apparently won't speak to the McCanns) but the Anglican one who is speaking to them and who apparently knew them on a more social level.

That would be Hubbard then. I read what Jane said on Supertroll's and apparently Father Pacheco has become a recluse because he is reported to be scared of the PJ, now there is a surprise - not!
The Anglican Priest is Father Hubbard and he and his wife are ardent supporters of Kate and Gerry and they spent a lot of time with them in the weeks after Madeleine disappeared, I have read that they are totally convinced of Kate and Gerry's innocence and they also say that the couple you see who are composed for the camera's is NOT the same as the couple behind the camera. Apparently they try to keep composed because they have been told by behavioural psychologists that this is the way they should behave.

DIARY OF POLICE CHIEF AMARAL1.15pm GO FOR LUNCH -
4.23pm BACK TO WORK Wednesday: While the world hopes a young blonde girl seen in Morocco might be Madeleine, Amaral and his team have other priorities.
9.30am: Amaral arrives for work in his car wearing a beige jacket, jeans and a white shirt.
1.17pm: He casually strolls out of the police building and takes a leisurely stroll to the Carvi restaurant with his boss GUILHERMINO ENCARNACAO - dubbed Inspector Clueless - who is making a rare visit to the investigation.
Lunch: They share a bottle of wine white and two fish platters before heading back to the office at 3.27pm.
6.30pm: Amaral heads home.
Thursday: Amaral's boss has left town, meaning he can focus properly on his lunch.
9.30am: He clocks on.
1.07pm: It's down tools time as he heads for lunch with a younger colleague.
1.15pm: They are joined by a Nancy Dell'Olio lookalike, who wears a figure-hugging black dress. The woman greets Amaral by patting him on the backside and ruffling his thinning hair. (Watch ouy Gonc Arsa and Claw will have your guts for garters)
1.20pm: The group move to Amaral's preferred secluded table. His first drink is a pinkcoloured fruit cordial but he's soon switching to a glass of Portuguese Sagres lager.
2.19pm: Amaral has a coughing fit which lasts more than three minutes. He splutters at the table, sipping water before picking up the bill for the £84 meal.
3.30pm: The woman leaves by herself and the men follow a few minutes' later.
6.13pm: Amaral emerges from the building with the colleague he went to lunch with. They return to the Carvi and sit watching the evening news on the TV.
6.48pm: The young man leaves after another beer. Amaral stays on, eating a couple of fish dishes.
9.55pm: After a few more beers, he heads back to his car and drives home. Friday:
9.54am: Amaral pitches up for work even later than normal.
1.08pm: After fewer than three hours at his desk, he's off to pick up his daughter from school and brings her back to the Carvi with him.
1.15pm: He orders the first of at least four beers. He and his colleague also order a bottle of white wine while the little girl has a soft drink.
2.14pm: He takes his daughter back to the car. She is driven off and he is joined by two more friends and his racing driver friend. Amaral then has at least three more beers and a glass of wine.

The Anglican Priest Father Hubbard and his wife Susan, helped the McCanns in Portugal and Susan looked after the twins.
They became very good friends and have visited them a couple of times since they came home.
The other priest did not slate the McCanns for not returning the keys to the church as we were told on the DE.
I think he needs to answer some questions, I would like to know why he is so scared of the PJ, or is he ?
It seems an awful lot of people are scared of the PJ doesn't it?

I read that this morning about this Priest Father Pacheco that he is scared of the PJ.
What is this about a tunnel leading to the beach? Although this doesn't surprise me many churches have underground tunnels especially coastal ones, that lead to the beach, but this is very interesting, is it too much to ask that the PJ have had this tunnel tested for Madeleine's DNA?

Personal Time Off (PTO's)- we get 17 days off (this is apart from our holiday time off). PTO's are SUPPOSE to be used for doctor, dental, personal appointments but we're a lot like the PJ's and their secrecy laws - everybody know they're suppose to, but few choose to - they take their 17 PTO's plus still use company time for their personal appointments.
Out of the 17 days, the company has 5 company wide PTO's - the company is shut down but you can still elect to go in on a company elected PTO and take it another day.
The oil and gas companies started this because it is difficult to find and retain employees.

Yes, Rosie, I did read that about the secrecy law in Portugal. I also hear that whenever, the McCanns try to speak about the case, in public they are threatened with jail for breaking the secrecy law. No one else is - just the McCanns and their friends.

Not bad, eh! We don't get anything like that here! I got one day off when I moved and I think if a blood relative dies then you get a couple of days off. Other places (state-run) give you more time if you move out of the city - some places give you 3 days for that. I work in a well scroogy place.

The joke is about our conditions (they are cutting back on people's hours - provided they aren't friends with the management) is that they are cutting back on the hours of people who actually do something and the dean (who is new) is only at the university 3 days a week! Then because he didn't get a company car he ordered one of the company cars to be put at his disposal for a year! Then he said he wasn't driving around with the company logo, so he had that taken off. He drives to the airport every Thursday evening/Friday evening, leaves the car there and flies back to Germany (which he doesn't pay for) till Monday evening.
One of my colleagues adopted a child from Russia and had the uni pay for the flights for himself and his wife!
Well if there's anywhere to cut down on rubbish spending, then there are two fantastic candidates right there!
I have to go to for now - bunch of running to do. Will catch up with you later this afternoon.

I know, but we waited with baited breath for the re-questioning to happen and it has turned out to be a non-event, and I feel that the PJ will have to say something shortly to try and salvage some credibilty (which will be very difficult for them if not impossible!)

I dont see how they can possibly justify dragging it out too much longer. I think these files now need to come out into the open, as Gerry said yesterday, who are they benefiting by remaining secret. Certainly not Madeleine!

I agree that something should happen and that there has been build up followed by a big nothing (as usual). It is because of these build-ups and big nothings that I don't trust my instincts on this anymore!

I love the job, the kids are special needs but they are so entertaining, and I have one little darling Thomas (6) who has me wrapped round his little finger!

At one place I worked at there was a couple of special needs people who were doing some music course at the university. They were around 20 and always used to get the bus together. They were so happy when they were together - they couldn't get close enough and at the university you never saw one without the other.

If it wasn't so serious, it would be laughable, they made so much of reinterviewing the Tapas7 and yet the Head of the Investigation (if you can call it that) didnt even stay around to complete them.
Again, they've just embarrassed themselves.
Is it may that they have to make a decision on whether the McCann's can see their files?
I think that a lot has been happening behind the scenes since the PJ went home from the UK, what we are seeing is them getting rid of Gonc because they know the spotlight is going to fall on him for initially cocking this investigation up and with him gone, they hope that not too much flak will fall on the PJ, their scape goat will no longer be in their employ.
I am willing to bet that the PJ will make an announcement soon that the McCann's arguido status is lifted and they will receive a formal apology.
Why else would Tubby suddenly go? he went because of not he would be pushed, the penny is beginning to drop with the Portuguese government that this is damaging Portugal and they have to somehow try and draw a line under it all. They cannot do this with the McCann's remaining as arguidos and Gonc still in the employ of the PJ, they know heads will have to roll, so rather than do this they have forced him out of the door now.

I always knew that questioning was never going to amount to anything, so I was not bothered about it. I t stood to reason that they took so long to get here because there was never anything important or urgent attached to their visit.
I think that it is what has been happening behind the scenes since the PJ have returned home which is the real story and all the outward signs look very bad for the PJ, especially Gonc!

Yes I did get that, I think he may have also been referring to that forensic technician, who was taking evidence on the vitally important shutters, remember she had one glove only, and that was NOT on the hand she was using, her SOCa overalls were not on correctly, her wild unkempt hair was free and flying around in the wind and she did not have a mask on, just about every rule that could be broke, she broke it, on camera, for the whole world to see, I remember a forensic science expert commenting on this and he could not believe what he was seeing!
